George Allan, 75, of 1009 First St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Friday, Aug. 15, 2003.
He was born July 5, 1928 in Fort Frances to the late Rufus and Isabelle Allan.
George’s working life started at the age of 12. He worked at many jobs, such as logging, commercial fishing, and most recently superintendent for the Town of Fort Frances.
His passions were hunting and fishing, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren, Michael and Amanda.
George is survived by his wife, Doreen Allan of Fort Frances, Ont.; four children, Dannette Allan, Doug Allan, Ben Allan, and Greg Allan and wife, Cindy, of Fort Frances, Ont.; and two grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Allan.
Also surviving are four brothers, Lew Allan and wife, Sheila, of Kingston, Ont., Ted Allan and wife, Arlene, and Lawrence Allan and wife, Loretta, all of Fort Frances, Ont., and Glenn Allan of Red Deer, Alta.; four sisters, Kady and husband, Arnie Berglund, of McKenzie Portage, Ont., Bea and husband, Don Galbraith, and Alden Molnar, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; and Carol and husband, Ralph Homuth, of Winnipeg, Man.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Debbie Allan; one sister, Frances Williams; and one brother in infancy.
Memorial services were held Monday, Aug. 18, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Pastor Diane Clifford officiating. Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
Honourary pallbearers were Terry Kielczewski, Kevin Jerry, Paul Clarke, Gordon Galbraith, Mallory Larson, and Cheech Morelli.
