George Kaplar, of 422 Front St., Emo, Ont., passed away at the Emo Health Centre on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005 at the age of 72.
George was a retired locomotive engineer from the CNR. He hired out on the railroad in 1952 and worked for a brief period in Rainy River, Ont., then was laid off and headed out west.
He took up residence in Biggar, Sask., where he worked and raised his family until 1969, when he returned to Rainy River to work. He moved his family to Emo in 1970.
George retired in 1989.
He was well-known for his love and passion for gardening, and his generous spirit of sharing his harvest with friends and neighbours.
Left to mourn his loss is wife, Joyce Kaplar of Saskatoon, Sask.;
stepchildren, Myrna Kennedy and Jim Olson of Saskatoon, Sask.; and sons, Randy Hodges of North Vancouver, B.C., Cameron Kaplar of Edmonton, Alta., Donald Kaplar of Kamloops, B.C., Clayton Kaplar of Calgary, Alta., Leslie Kaplar of North Vancouver, B.C., and Kelly Kaplar of New Westminster, B.C.
Also surviving are Myrna’s children, Darrin, Chad, and Rhonda Kennedy; Jim’s children, Renee and Reagan Olson; Cameron’s children, Kimberly and Sienna Kaplar; and Leslie’s children, Christopher and Nadine Kaplar.
George was predeceased by one grandson, Dean Kaplar, son of Cameron.
George is sadly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
