GEORGE HERBERT

Lloyd George Wilson Herbert, 95, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was born Jan. 5, 1919 in Thunder Bay, Ont.
On July 9, 1940, George was united in marriage to the former Gladys Rosalie Sanders, who predeceased him on Feb. 7, 1986.
George was a veteran of World War Two, having served overseas in Belgium.
Following his discharge, he moved to Fort Frances, where he worked at the J.A. Mathieu sawmill. He then worked for many years at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances as a stationery engineer until his retirement.
The family includes four children, Winston (Bernie) Herbert of Edmonton, Alta., Wayne (Gwen) Herbert of Fort Frances, Ont., Diane (Brad) Kenney of Thunder Bay, Ont., and John (Cookie) Herbert of Red Deer, Alta.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Besides his first wife, George was predeceased by his parents, George and Kate; one infant daughter, Gladys Annie Herbert; second wife, Rose; and daughter-in-law, Helen Herbert.
Cremation will take place, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
