George Everett, of Pinewood, Ont., passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2002 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was born Dec. 30, 1921 in Plaster Rock, N.B. to the late Murray and Jean Everett. During World War II, George served in the Canadian Army overseas until his honourable discharge.
On July 13, 1946, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Mackey. George and his family travelled throughout Canada working in the mining industry until his retirement in 1983.
George had a love for hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. In 1991, George and Marjorie moved to Pinewood, where he has lived for the past 11 years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie; three sisters, Geneva, Celia, and Vera; and one grandson, Anthony (Tony) Everett.
George is survived by his three sons, Robert and wife, Barbara, of Fort Frances, Ont., Murray and wife, Norma, of Elkford, B.C., and Rick and wife, Russelle (Rusty), of Fort McMurray, Alta.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29 Colour Party will provide the military tribute.
Honourary pallbearers will be Paul Porter, Herb Yelland, Tom Pit-kanen, Andrew Everett, Scott Backhouse, Nathan Kenny, Jason Goodman, Adam Snooks, Ray Mc-Kenzie, and Bill Ellis.
