In memory of the best man we have ever known, George Elmer Anderson, who passed away on Oct. 25, 2016.
His journey began in Fort Frances (Ont.) on July 17, 1943 and led to studies at the U of T and BYU, LDS mission service in Belgium, and wanderlust travels abroad.
He found treasure in Peru–Rochi, the love of his life—and was blessed with a marriage of 47 years, four children, Nancy Sumac (Perfecto), Trevor, John Inca (Emily), and David (Cori), and 11 grandkids.
He also is survived by his brothers, Ross (Ann-Jane) and Boyd, and their families.
He was predeceased by his parents, John Jerome (Jack) and Agnes Isabel; and brother, Arthur.
Of his many achievements (Chief Scout, scholar, missionary, park ranger, college administrator, political staff, public servant, capped by two decades as Ombudsman for Algonquin College), he held no roles dearer than husband, father, and grandfather.
A life marked by erudition, a thirst for learning, quiet leadership, and faith. Adventurer, creative soul, artist, and writer, he returns now to the loving embrace of his Lord and ancestors.
He was gentle and kind, in the noblest sense of those words, and like the Happy Prince, sacrificed all he possessed to better all those in his care.
All sorrow felt by his passing is surpassed by the sheer joy of having known him in life.
His blood in our veins, his voice in our ears, his hand on our shoulders, his courage in our hearts, lead on, George; we still follow.
GEORGE ELMER ANDERSON
