George (Arnold) Bruyere, 68, a member of Couchiching First Nation, passed away peacefully at his residence in Ottawa, Ont. on Thursday, March 18, 2004, surrounded by his beloved family, brothers, and sisters.
During his adolescent years, Arnold assisted his parents in managing of the business of Rice Bay Fisheries.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He guided for many years at various local tourist camps. He enjoyed playing the guitar and fiddle, and he was well-known for his singing and whistling.
Arnold served eight years in the R.C.A.F., and he was stationed at Gimli, Man.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Bella; brother, Marvin; sister-in-law, Catherine; Aunt Eva; and other relatives too numerous to mention.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle (Perrault); step-children, Vince Perrault (Myrna), Jocelyn Johnson (Steve), Renee Green, Monique Patterson, Candance Morin (Jeffery Lauzen), and Guy Morin (Robin); and grandchildren, Raylene, M.J., Joe, Alex, Megan, Jesse, Nicholas, Cameron, Natalie, Wade, Marcie, Ben, and Cara.
Also surviving are his sisters, Shirley (Charlie) Sollen, Lyla, and Karen; brothers, Larry (Eileen), Douglas (Bev), Lyle (Joan), Rudy (Shirley), Sydney (Wendy), Sterling (Lynn), and Frank (Peggy); as well as numerous nieces and nephews; Uncle Conrad (Judy); Aunt Josephine (Pud) and Aunt Lucy; along with numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at Couchiching, with Fr.
Rey conducting a celebration of Arnold’s life.
Honourary pallbearers will be his family and friends.
