GEORGE A. BALASKI

George A. Balaski, 88, of International Falls, MN, died on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 at the Rainy Lake Medical Center.
George was born on July 9, 1925 in International Falls, and he was a lifelong resident. He attended St. Thomas School and Falls High School.
George served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946.
He married Eva Wednchuk on June 25, 1949 at St. Thomas Catholic Church.
George retired from Boise Cascade with 40-plus years of service. He was a General Mechanic in the Electrical and Instrumentation department.
He loved to fish and hunt at his family’s cabin and enjoyed being outdoors. George loved to read and enjoyed visiting with his friends and family for the past 5 years at the Falls Good Samaritan Society.
He was a 64-year member of the Knights of Columbus, a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran, a member of the V.F.W., and St. Thomas Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eva; parents, Albert and Lena Balaski; brother Phillip Balaski; and sisters, Catherine (Kay) Schwark and Helene Madzia.
George is survived by sons, Christopher (Cindy) Balaski of Loman, MN and Curtis Balaski (Marilee Malley) of Virginia, MN; daughters, Constance “Connie” (Tom) Enzmann of Andover, MN, Carol Marie of International Falls, and Cynthia “Cindy” (Kelvin) Sukut of Fremont, NE; grandchildren, Chris Jr., Shawna, Stacy, Michelle, Melissa, Ashlee, Tory, and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Lila Jean, Adalynn, Ashton, Dugan, Madeline, Eva, Tucker, Greta, and Chase; brother, Hubert Balaski; and sisters, Elaine Audry Consti, Marcia McGillvray, Pamela Hill, and Virginia Joslyn.
George was a devoted father and husband and would always help others with snow shoveling and lawn mowing. He was kind and loving, and he will be missed by all of his family and friends.
Visitation was held at 10 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with flag presentation.
Interment was at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.
