Garry was born in Rainy River, Ont. on Jan. 19, 1948. He was raised on the farm in Devlin, Ont., where he developed his strong work ethic.
He relocated to Atikokan, Ont. in 1964 to work at the iron mines and then, one year later, at Atikokan Forest Products. He remained a faithful, hard-working employee for more than 40 years until his illness forced an early retirement.
Garry was proud of having more than 26 years of service with no workplace injury.
He moved to Dryden in June, 2011 to be closer to his daughter.
Throughout the years, Garry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, darts, playing cards, and let’s not forget Bingo, where he earned the nickname “Lucky.”
He joined the “Go Getters” in Dryden, and enjoyed travelling with his bowling and Bingo crew. Garry also enjoyed travelling to visit his children and grandchildren in Winnipeg and Montreal.
Pops will be remembered for his sense of humour.
Cremation has taken place.
