It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Garry Desserre on June 15, 2011 at the Dryden Regional Hospital in Dryden, Ont.
Garry was born Jan. 16, 1943 in Emo, Ont. to Alphonse and Sophie Desserre.
He grew up on the family farm in the Stratton, Ont. area, where he met and married his wife of 48 years, Elaine King. Together they raised four children.
On Feb. 1, 1998, after 33 years of dedicated employment, Garry retired from the Avenor Mill (Woodlands Division). After his retirement, he spent all his spare time with family and friends enjoying the outdoors, camping, fishing, and trapping at the family “trapper shack.”
He was a long-time member of the Dryden Trappers Association.
Garry is survived by his loving wife, Elaine; daughters, Donna (Randy) and Karen (Danny); sons, Darryl and Kevin (Sheri); and grandchildren, Danielle, Derrick, Breanna, Brooke, Jamee, Kisha, Andrea, and Karlie.
He also is survived by his siblings, Phyliss (Ron), Wilton (Deanna), Howard (Debbie), Valbert (Wendy), and Elwood; brother-in-law, Chris Rudd; and by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alphonse and Sophie; and sister, Alvena.
Visitation was held June 16, 2011, followed by funeral services on June 17, 2011 at the First United Church in Dryden.
