GARNET NEIL PAULL

With family by his side, Garnet Neil Paull, 68, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 after losing his fight against cancer.
Garnet was born Oct. 12, 1941 in Swan River, Man. to Phyllis and Stuart Paull.
Garnet will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Nancy; his children, Carrie Baker (Todd), Kristine Brown (Greg), Curtis Paull (Saveria), Terra Haines (Barry), and Gavin Paull (Joelle); and his grandchildren, Joel, Jared, and Jessie Baker, Seneca and Spencer Brown, Riley and Jake Paull, Aprille McKee, and Garrett Paull.
He also will be remembered by his mother, Phyllis; brothers, Gary (Bev), Ron (Winnie), and Morley (Florence); sister, Sharon Bertrand (Roger); along with several nieces and nephews.
He will be sadly missed by his loyal and dedicated employee and friend of 25 years, Ron Hughes.
Garnet was predeceased by his father, Stuart; grandson, Ryan Baker; and granddaughter, Lindsay Paull.
Garnet moved his family to Fort Frances, Ont. in 1972 as a Snap-On Tools dealer. He later worked for Pat Pacarenuk at Devlin Automotive before opening his own business, Selective Services in 1985, where he continued to work until his passing.
Garnet had a love for cars and snowmobiles. He began racing snowmobiles in 1967, competing in the Canadian Snowmobile Championships in Beausejour, Man. in 1971.
He supported stock car racing in Emo for many years so it’s not surprising that when his son, Gavin, was old enough to drive and began racing, Garnet was his biggest fan.
Garnet also loved spending time with Carrie and her family at the lake, and the many delicious meals with Kristine and family in Rainy River. He was proud of his son Curtis’ musical accomplishments and he loved his Oakleys.
He loved cruising in his Corvette with Nancy, and would drive to Dauphin to visit Terra and family.
Garnet and Nancy made many trips to Winnipeg to visit family and friends, and always made sure to stop at his favorite restaurant, the Red Top. He also loved his Yamahas and bragged he was “King of the Creek.”
Garnet was always looking for a deal.
In keeping with Garnet’s wishes, a private family service will be held Friday, July 23, 2010.
All family and friends are invited to a celebration of Garnet’s life, which will be held Friday, July 23, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Selective Services.
Garnet had a love for life. We love him and will forever miss him.
He was one of a kind.
