It is with great sorrow that the family of Garett Wayash announces his passing on Friday, August 27, 2021, in Mitaanjigamiing First Nation.

Garett was born on October 6, 1974 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Billy and Annie Wayash. He grew up in the surrounding area and moved home to the community of Mitaanjigamiing. He was a kind, honest, straightforward, gentle and giving man who had a close-knit community of family and friends. He was always willing help others, was a great listener and he loved family gatherings. His door was always open and was often the go to spot for game nights. He loved to play video games and card games. When you saw him out in the community, he was never alone; his best friend Lily was always tucked under his arm. He had a great sense of humour and often started a sentence with “why, why, why.”
