FRED DAVIDSON

Mr. Fred Davidson, 70, of Pioneer Ridge, formerly of Caroline Street, passed away peacefully April 29, 2000 after a lengthy illness with his family by his side.
He was born Nov. 20, 1929 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late Prosper and Georgina Davidson. He was employed at Avenor and retired in 1988.
Upon his retirement, he fulfilled his dream of building a new cottage at West Oliver Lake, where he spent many enjoyable summers. Other enjoyments included watching his grandsons play hockey, watching the Thunder Cats games, his morning coffee at Robin’s Donuts with the boys, and fishing.
He was a very caring and giving person, always willing to lend a hand.
Fred was married to Elsie Allan on April 11, 1955, who survives along with his daughter, Debbie (Don) Karpowich, and son, Len (Desney) Davidson. His grandsons, Ian and Graham Karpowich, and Jordan and Brett Davidson, brought him many smiles, laughter, and much happiness.
Fred also is survived by one brother, Leonard (Arlie) of Dryden, Ont.; four sisters, Verna Labelle of Thunder Bay, Ont., Theresa (Leo) Eberts of Wynward, Sask., and Eleanor (Don) Kuchma and Nella Baker of Fort Frances, Ont.; and sister-in-law, Irene Davidson of Sarnia, Ont.
Special niece, Lorraine (Glen) Eklund of Thunder Bay, Ont., as well as numerous nieces and nephews, also survive.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Delia Carpenter, Isabel Nilson, and Helen Davidson.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 3, 2000, with family and friends gathering at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. celebrated by Father Francis Pudicherry.
Interment to follow in the family plot at St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
Prayers were offered Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at 6 p.m. in the Westfort Chapel, with visitation following until 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital Special Rehabilitation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
