Frank Grabowski passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the age of 86.
Frank, the son of Katy and Nicholas Grabowski, was born on May 27, 1924 in St. Clements, a rural municipality just outside of Winnipeg, Man.
Frank served in World War II and after the war settled in Calgary, Alta., where he met and married Jessie Nancy Staszko and had two children, Bob and Judy.
Over the years, Frank worked as a chef in numerous restaurants and hotels, including managing the No. 1 Royal Canadian Legion Dining Room for many years.
Frank was a dedicated and active member of the Legion until his passing.
Frank leaves behind Jessie Nancy Grabowski; his son, Bob Grabowski and wife, Gail Preston, and son, Andrew; his daughter, Judy Jarvis and husband, Ian; three granddaughters, Charity, Jessica, and Katlyn; and one great-grandson, Noah.
He was predeceased by his brother, Edward, and leaves behind his brother, Joe and wife, Jean, and his sister, Gladys and her husband, Steve, all of Manitoba; his sister-in-law, Ann, and brother, Stanley and wife, Lena, of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Frank’s life was held Friday, April 15, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre St., N.E., Calgary, Alta., T2E 2V6.
A reception followed.
