Frances Brown, 81, of Rainycrest Long Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence on Monday, July 6, 2009.
Frances was born Oct. 12, 1927 at Stanjikoming First Nation to the late Mizhkahick and Jim Banks Sr. She had lived most of her life in Rainy River District except for 15 years when she lived in Toronto, Ont.
She was a dedicated housewife and mother who followed her traditional upbringing.
She was united in marriage to Harry Brown.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Howard J. Brown (Audrey) of Lac La Croix First Nation, Tony Brown of Toronto, Ont., Edmond Councillor of Kenora, Ont., and Wayne Brown of Barwick, Ont.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Danielle Brown, Stuart Boshkaykin, Sky Boshkaykin, Tania Boshkaykin, Clarissa Boshkaykin, and August Boshkaykin; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim Banks Jr. of Stanjikoming First Nation; niece, Nancy Jones and family of Nicickousemenecaning First Nation; and nephew, George Potson and family of Seine River First Nation.
She was predeceased by her parents; son, Randy Brown; daughters, Darlene Brown, Frances Brown Jr., and Evelyn Brown; and granddaughter, Adrienne Brown.
A traditional ceremony will be held Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 9 a.m. at the Nicickousemenecaning First Nation gymnasium. Elder George Boshkaykin will officiate, followed by interment in the Nicickousemenecaning First Nation Cemetery.
A wake will be held Friday, July 10, 2009 from 2 p.m. at the Nicickousemenecaning First Nation gymnasium.
The pallbearers will be friends of the family.
