Florence (Peggy) McFee, 88, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances on Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999.
She was born Florence Isabella Lewis on July 5, 1910 in Hayfield, Man.
During the early 1930s, Florence moved to Fort Frances. On June 8, 1935, she was united in marriage to Ralph Francis McFee, who predeceased her June 10, 1979.
Florence resided in Fort Frances for more than 65 years, the past four as a resident of Rainycrest. She was a past member of the Knox United Church, and was an avid card player and bingo player.
She was predeceased by one sister, Mary Whitley; and five brothers, Fred, Arthur, Harry, Jack, and Charles Lewis.
Florence is survived by her two sons, Garry McFee and wife, Jessie, of Carleton Place, Ont., and Ron McFee and wife, Dawn, of North Vancouver, B.C.; five grandchildren, Pamela, Kevin, Ingrid, Kurt, and Kristen; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Rev. Frances Flook officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends visited prior to the service Wednesday afternoon from noon until 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Don McFee, Derek McFee, Jim McAughren, Ray Cameron, Brian Avis, and Bert Smeeth.
