Mrs. Florence Lyons (Bartush), 77, a long-time resident of Thunder Bay, Ont., passed away in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hospice Unit, on Monday, Aug. 15, 2016 with her family by her side.
Flo was born in 1938 in Fort Frances, Ont., the youngest of Max and Leonilla Bartush’s 10 children.
It was there she met and married the love of her life, Timothy Lyons. They later moved to Fort William, Ont., where they raised their daughters, Cathie and Corrie.
She worked for many years at Chapples department store before going on to own several businesses, including a gas bar and a candy store, which was much-loved by her grandchildren.
Flo will be lovingly remembered by her daughters and their husbands, Cathie and Gary (Tripp) and Corrie and James (Cochrane); grandchildren, Samantha, Crystal (Frank), Danielle (Justin), and Jennifer; and great-grandchildren, Ari Timothy, Keiran, and Emma.
She also will be remembered by her siblings, Eileen, Helen, Maxine, Betty Iris, Rita, Marie, Frances, and Ronald; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Florence was predeceased by her husband, Timothy; parents, Max and Leonilla; brother, Charles; sister-in-law, Marie; and brothers-in-law, William, and Wayne.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks a donation be made in Florence’s name to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
