Florence Kerr-McInnes, 83, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away July 6, 1999 at La Verendrye hospital.
She was born Jan. 20, 1916 in Edmonton, a section of London, England, to Florence and William Harman. As a young child, Florence lived in Lucknow, India for two years where her father was a soldier.
Florence and her family came to Canada in 1922 and lived in Toronto, Ont. She married William Kerr in 1938 and lived in Prince Edward County, Ont., where she taught music in the elementary school for 16 years.
Both her parents passed away in February, 1981.
Florence’s husband passed away in 1985. One year later, she moved to Fort Frances to be near her daughter, Marilyn Stinson.
Florence married again in 1989 to Don Merson McInnes of Winnipeg, Man., who passed away Sept. 21, 1995.
Florence was a long-time member of the Senior Choir at Knox United Church and a dedicated volunteer at Day Hospital. She had a great love for music and gave of her talent as a piano accompanist many times for school children’s choirs here.
Florence also had a love of gardening, and a special place in her heart for her dog, Scamper.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Terry) Stinson of Fort Frances; son, William Ronald Kerr of Belleville, Ont.; and stepchildren from her second marriage, Don, Rose, Laura, Donna, and Lawrence.
Also surviving are her granddaughters, Vicki, Katie, and Kerrilyn Stinson, and Lori (Rick Taylor) of Belleville, Ont.; grandson, Terry Kerr of Corbyville, Ont.; great-granddaughter, Erin Taylor; and former daughter-in-law, Gloria Kerr.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 9, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
