Florence Watts, 86, of Golden Age Manor in Emo, Ont., passed away at the Emo Hospital there Saturday, June 5, 1999.
She was born March 6, 1913 in Chapple Township, Ont. to the late Sam and Martha Both. On Aug. 22, 1931, Florence was united in marriage to Percy Watts.
Florence was a past member of Chapple Women’s Institute. She also was well-known as an expert seamstress throughout her life, and had won various prizes for her beautiful work at the Emo fall fair on many occasions.
In her later years, she took up knitting, and in 1993 moved to Golden Age Manor in Emo, where she had resided since.
She was predeceased by her husband, Percy Watts on Jan. 28, 1982; son, John Watts on Nov. 25, 1983; son-in-law, Gerald Hartnell; grandson, William (Bill) Hartnell; three brothers, Bill, Gus, and Herb Both; and one sister, Mary Jackson.
Florence is survived by two daughters, Betty and husband Alvin (Bob) Westerby of Beaverdale, B.C., and Loretta Hartnell of Emo, Ont.; daughter-in-law, Isabel Watts of R.R.#1, Stratton, Ont.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 8, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the Barwick Hall in Barwick, Ont. Eileen Bragg officiated, with interment in Chapple Cemetery in Chapple.
Friends visited prior to funeral services from 1 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon at the Barwick Hall.
Pallbearers were Steve Both, Randy Both, Ken Jackson, Jim Jackson, Allan Seed, and Terry Angus.
