FLORENCE ELIZABETH DRENNAN

It is with great sadness that the family of Florence Elizabeth Drennan, 91, announces that she passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2006.
This great woman was born April 25, 1914 in Cartwright, Man. to William and Martha Caul. As a young girl, Florence moved to Rainy River District with  her family, living first in Rainy River, Ont., then La Vallee, Ont., and on into Fort Frances, Ont.
Florence then met the love of her life, Joseph Drennan, whom she married on April 8, 1935 at Knox United Church in Fort Frances and together they raised two children.
Throughout her long and full life, Florence was a homemaker whose dedication to her faith in God, to her children, and to all of her grandchildren was unwavering.
Throughout her days, Florence was an extraordinary cook and baker (including aweome lemon pies), a quilter, knitter, crochet artist, Yahtzee player, and a true teacher of life.
Florence also took enormous pleasure in the company of her nieces, nephews, and the many, many, friends she adored.
She also was a decades-long member of Unit #3 at Knox United Church in Fort Frances and remained an avid participant in the unit’s activities up until her death.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Lois (Bruce) Caldwell of Fort Frances, Ont.; daughter-in-law, Myrna Drennan of Fort Frances, Ont.; five grandchildren, Beth (Peter) Suppa, Jay (Tanice) Caldwell, Kathy (Gordon) Lampi, Lori Drennan, and Joe (Christal) Drennan; 13 great-grandchildren, Angela and Melissa Lampi, Megan, Colleen, and Heather Zachozy, Sara and Jake Galusha, Charlie, Danielle, Ally, and Billy Drennan, Amanda Caldwell, and Dustin Holtz; and one great-great-grandchild, Adam Parks.
Florence also is survived by her sister, Ellen Parkin of Fort Frances, Ont.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Caul and Mary Caul; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Florence was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Drennan; son, Bill Drennan; sisters, Anne Sullivan and Eva Boland; and brothers, Harry Caul and Steve Caul.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances, with Mr. Jack Cameron officiating.
Interment took place in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers were her grandsons, Jay Caldwell and Joe Drennan, nephews, Bill Caul and Sterling Douglas, nephew-in-law, Gordon Lampi, and good friend, Allan McTaggart.
The honourary pallbearers were her very special friends, Gordon and Marj McTaggart, Dino and Gert D’Agostini, Kay Buffington, Florence Lampi, Cliff Larry, and Jack McCuaig.
In lieu of flowers, Florence’s family encourages her loved ones and many friends to make a donation to the Knox United Church Lift Fund in Fort Frances, which was one of her greatest passions.

I have worked in the fertile Earth and planted a garden, so I know what faith is.
I have listened to the birds caroling in the early morning and at dusk, so I know what music is.
I have seen the morning without clouds after showers, so I know what beauty is.
I have sat before a wood fire with old friends, so I know what companionship is.
I have walked the paths of quietness along the forest floor, so I know what peace is.
I have dwelt in the valley of remembrance and on the hills of home, so I know what love is.
I have seen the miracle of spring, the fruition of summer, and the beauty of autumn, followed by the repose of winter, so I know what life is.
And because I have perceived all these things, I know what God is.
