FERN ‘MA’ THOMPSON

It is with great sadness that the family of Fern Thompson announces her passing on Monday, Nov. 15, 2010 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Fern was born Nov. 13, 1933 in Sioux Lookout, Ont. to Harold and Jessie Lawrence.
She worked for many years at La Verendrye Hospital, where she always had a pocket of peppermints for her fellow employees.
Fern enjoyed spending time with her daughter and her family. She was very proud of her grandchildren and loved their time together.
Fern also had a close bond with her son-in-law, Len. From the first time Donalda brought him home, Fern thought he was something special.
She leaves behind her daughter, Donalda, and husband, Len Allen; grandsons, Mason and Dawson; sister, Etta Bickell and husband, Ray; brother, Harry Lawrence and wife, Verle; and nephews, Donald, Doug, David, and Darin and their families.
She will be missed by good friends, Mike and Mary Lou and Larry and Rita. Fern also had a large extended family of close friends and adopted kids who called her “Ma,” and she will be greatly missed by all of them.
Fern was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Jessie; and her partner of 40 years, Eldon “Pa” Thompson on Nov. 12, 2009.
A celebration of Fern’s life will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 after 1 p.m. downstairs at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29 in Fort Frances.
