Evert Henrik Erickson

Evert Henrik Erickson, 85, of Bergland, Ont., passed away suddenly at his home Wednesday, March 14, 2001.
Evert was born Jan. 19, 1916 in Bergland to the late Emil and Josephina Erickson. He was raised and educated at Bergland, and worked with his father, and family farming and logging in the area.
During WWII, he served in the Canadian Army in Canada. In 1951, he was united in marriage to the former Doris McNie, who predeceased him in 1971.
Evert worked for the Ministry of Transportation and Communica-tions for 19 years until his retirement in 1981.
He loved gardening, fishing, music, dancing, and playing cards. He also was very involved within the community, and loved visiting with family and friends.
Evert also was predeceased by brothers, Nils, Eric, and Frans; and sisters, Elizabeth and Ellen.
Evert is survived by his four children, Bruce and wife, Marleta, of Chetwynd, B.C., Elaine and husband, Rob Adamson, of Winnipeg, Man., Paul and wife, Jana, of Ed-monton, Alta., and Bernice and husband, Henry Aalbers of Mac-Gregor, Man.; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Amy, Michael, Scott, Quinn, Kyle, Boyd, and Nils; sister, Jennie Cave of Fort Frances; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 23, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland. Pat White officiated, with interment in Bergland Cemet-ery in Bergland at a later date.
Visitation was held Thursday, March 22, 2001 from 7:30 until 9 p.m. at the Rainy River Funeral Home in Rainy River, Ont.
Pallbearers were Henry Pent-ney, Rocky Olson, Glenn Ander-son, Melvin Kallstrom, Larry Nor-din, and Alfred Gate.
Honourary pallbearers were Alice Pentney, Elma Puzey, Ted Lundgren, Jim McLean, Vernon Wrolstad, and Myrtle McKinnon.
