Mrs. Evelyn Marie Richard, 75, a resident of Jewell Street and longtime resident of Lakeshore Drive, passed away in St. Joseph’s Care Group on April 6, 2001 following a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 4, 1925 in Fort Frances, Ont., she had been a resident of Thunder Bay, Ont. since 1945.
Evelyn received her early education in Fort Frances and later graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She married James Richard on Oct. 20, 1947 in St. Andrew’s R.C. Church in Port Arthur.
She was employed with St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Port Arthur Clinic as a registered nurse until 1967, when she retired to devote her time to her home and family.
Evelyn was a member of Corpus Christi R.C. Church, and was involved with McGregor Rec Centre and the rebuilding of St. Mark’s R.C. Church. Her home, family, and grandchildren were the main focus of her life in later years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, James; sons, Kenneth (Penny), Jamie, and Rob of Thunder Bay; daughter, Judy Bak (David) of Pass Lake; five grandchildren, Christopher, Heather, Sharon, Andrew, and Curtis; sister, Jane Makarenko; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Donna Perrault; brother, Ernest Perrault; grandson, Steven Bak; and daughter-in-law, Tracy Richard.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2001 when family and friends will gather at Corpus Christi R.C. Church for funeral mass at 11 a.m., celebrated by Rev. P.M. Stilla V.F.
(All services complete in the church).
A private inurnment will take place in Our Lady Of Charity Mausoleum, St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
