Evelyn Goldamer, 89, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Evelyn was born Aug. 6, 1924 to Harry A. Mathews and Ledea Yeske in Birchdale, Mn. She was one of 12 children.
She was married to Louis Goldamer on July 8, 1944 and together they raised three boys.
Evelyn was predeceased by her parents; husband, Louis; brothers, Henry, Robert, George, Jim, Roland, Wesley, Elmer, and Kenneth; and sisters, Mildred, Edna, and Ethel.
Evelyn was a homemaker until her husband Louis’ death, after which she completed nurses’ training and worked in the nursery at La Verendrye Hospital until her retirement.
After retirement, Evelyn enjoyed gardening and helping others through volunteer work with numerous organizations, including the Church of the Lutheran Hour, Fort Frances Horticultural Society, and Rainycrest.
She is survived by her sons, James (Mary Ann) of Aurora, Ont., Gary of Hemet, Calif., and Bruce (Cheryl) of Fort Frances, Ont.; grandchildren, Stefani, Curtis, Matthew, Jason, Scott, and Shauna; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 from 7-8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Lutheran Hour in Fort Frances.
Pastor Jacob Quast will officiate, with a family interment at Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
The pallbeareres will be James Goldamer, Gary Goldamer, Bruce Goldamer, Curtis Goldamer, Matthew Goldamer, and Jason Goldamer.
