EVELYN DOROTHY SMEETH

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Smeeth on September 1, 2005 at the age of 82.
Evelyn was born on May 9, 1923 in Finland, Ontario and was raised there on her parents’ farm. While working in a bush camp she met Jack Smeeth.
She was united in marriage to John Mackenzie Smeeth on July 24, 1945 at the Knox United Church and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
They spent the majority of these years on their farm in Miscampbell, moving to Columbus Place 1 1/2 years ago.
Evelyn greatly enjoyed her years on the farm, where she and Jack raised their four children. She was a great cook and homemaker. She loved to work in her gardens in the summer and ski down the trails in winter.
Evelyn could be found bowling every Thursday and loved to travel and see new places. She enjoyed any opportunity to get together with family or friends. She had a great sense of humour, often quick with a clever remark. Evelyn was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents; Peter and Christine Seger and two brothers; Arnold and Alan Seger.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jack Smeeth, and four children, Sandi (Brian) Sissons, Ron (Lana) Smeeth, Sherri (Michael) Smeeth, and Dan (Kathy) Smeeth.
She was very proud of her grandchildren; Crystal and Darren (Kora) Sissons, Carrie (James) and Chris Smeeth, Kyle and Ashley Smeeth. She also leaves to mourn numerous nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the Zion Lutheran Church from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Brian Keffer officiating. Honourary pallbearers will be all her many special friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Riverside Health Care.
