It is with great sadness that the family of Eva Gwyneth Costello announces her passing on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015 at the age of 87.
Eva was born March 24, 1928 to Cecelia Annie (Hawtin) and William John Evans in Rainy River, Ont. She was the youngest of five children.
Eva attended elementary and secondary school in Rainy River. Then immediately after graduation, she started her lifelong career at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.
Shortly after she married, Eva transferred to the Fort Frances CIBC, where she worked for a total of 41 years.
On Sept. 6, 1949, Eva married her soulmate, Howie (Howard James) Costello, and they enjoyed 61 years of wedded bliss.
They totally dedicated their lives to each other. Eva and Howie enjoyed travelling, camping, curling, and spending time with family and friends.
Eva was a life-time member of the Hospital Auxiliary, Fort Frances Curling Club, and the Rainycrest Auxiliary, and received recognition for 50 years of service to the Royal Canadian Legion.
She also was a dedicated member of the Redwing Rebeka Lodge 109, where she held various offices, including Worthy Grand Matron, at title of which she was very proud.
As well, Eva was a lifelong member of the Anglican Church of Canada, and loved the friends and fellowship of St. John’s Anglican in Fort Frances.
Eva was predeceased by her husband, Howie (2010); her parents; sister, Frances Bourré; and brothers, George and Fred Lambert.
Eva will be sadly missed by her sister, Marguerite Wrolstad of Dryden, Ont., and by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church in Fort Frances.
