ETHEL REDFORD KHOBER

It is with great sadness that the family of Ethel Redford Khober announces her passing on Tuesday Sept. 6, 2011 at her residence in Fort Frances, Ont.
Ethel was born April 24, 1917 in Broughton, England to the late Thomas and Emma Booth.
As a child of 11 years, her family immigrated to Canada, arriving by ship in Montreal, later settling in Emo Township, Ont.
Ethel and her eight brothers worked alongside their parents to start a new life in Canada.
On Nov. 26, 1945, she married Steve Redford and together they purchased a farm in Lash Township, Ont.
Ethel loved the farm life and loved to garden. Her cooking and baking were second-to-none and we always will remember her peach pies.—to this day we can never have them turn out as good as hers.
In 1965, Ethel and Steve sold the family farm, purchased Martins Transfer, and moved the family to Emo, Ont.
In her later years, Ethel moved into the Queen Street Manor, where she enjoyed visiting with her friends. This is where she met her second husband, Jim Khober, and were married in 1995.
Ethel’s health began to decline and she moved to Rainycrest Long-term Care in Fort Frances, where she lived until her passing.
Ethel’s faith meant a great deal to her, and she lived by it every day of her life. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Emo.
Ethel was a very gentle soul and had a good word about everyone she met. She also was a loving, caring mother to her three sons and their families.
Ethel is survived by her son, Alfred (Barbara) and their children, Tanya (Mike) and Edward (Julie); son, Ronald (Theresa) and their children, Mike (Marni), Steve (Gabby), Robert (Dana), Renae (Shawn), Ronnie (Wendy), Daniel (Dawn), Diana (Jamie), and Matt (Dannielle); and son, John (Kay) and their children, Turner, Morgan, and Maddysan; and her 10 great-grandchildren.
Ethel also is survived by her in-laws, Ron (Wilma) Redford, Irene Redford, Delbert Redford, Anne Booth, and Edward Gunderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ethel was predeceased by her first husband, Steve Redford (1986), and her second husband, Jim Khober (2001); and her eight brothers, Ted, Jack (Mamie), Jim (Jean), Martin (Hazel), Bert (Donalda), Ron (Thelma), Walter (Eunice), and Roland.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Emo, with Pastor Conrad Dueck officiating.
Interment took place in Emo Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Diana Krukoski, Tanya Redford, Turner Redford, Michael Redford, Matt Redford, and Jamie Booth.
