ESMERALDA MAREQUITA LARSON

It is with great sadness that the family of Esmeralda Marequita Larson announce her passing Monday, Dec. 24, 2001 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Esmeralda was born Sept. 17, 1911 in Salol, Mn. She came to Tovell, Ont. with her parents, Henry and Elizabeth Lundquist, in 1923. She was the eldest of eight children, all of whom have predeceased her.
Esmeralda was united in marriage to Einar Larson on June 28, 1928, who predeceased her Sept. 17, 1978. They had eight children, two of whom predeceased her: Hulda (Claude) Thornhill of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Grace (Bill) Kozak of Kenora, Ont.
Esmeralda is survived by four sons, Alfred (Ruby) of Lac Du Bonnet, Man., Bud (Mable, deceased) of Tovell, Ont., Wallace (Glenis) of Vancouver, B.C., and Wayne (Michelle) of Enderby, B.C.; and two daughters, Clarice (Stan, deceased) Gustafson of Red Deer, Alta., and Linda (Ray) Jewell of Devlin, Ont.
Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
Esmeralda worked in tourist camps as a cook for 20 years. She was an active member in Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake of the Woods Women’s Institute, and senior citizens’ club.
She enjoyed working on her loom, weaving rugs, and teaching quilting and crafts. She also taught 4-H in her younger years.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Bergland Hall. Pastor Robert Ek officiated, with interment at the Bergland Cemetery.
