EMMY JULIA GAVIN

It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Emmy Julia Gavin announces her quiet passing on Monday, Nov. 27, 2006 in Pickering, Ont. at the age of 84.
Emmy came to Canada with her parents, Jonas and Anna Seger (Lindberg), as a small child. She married Frederick Gavin in Fort Frances, Ont. in 1941.
After the war, they moved to Atikokan, Ont., where Emmy worked for M and C Motors and the Town of Atikokan, closing her career as municipal clerk treasurer in 1984.
Emmy resided in Winnipeg, Man. for some time and then moved to Pickering in 1995.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Fred; sisters, Aina McVey and Ingrid Simmons; and brother, Elov Seger.
Emmy is survived by her children, Ted (Vicky) Gavin (Jenny, Greg, and great-grandson, Drew) of Pickering, Ont., Brian (Heather) Gavin (Kristine and great-granddaughter, Kieleigh) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., and Carol Henry (Ron) and (Laura, Alex, and Rachel) of Winnipeg, Man.; and sister, Astrid Sobkowicz (Walter) of Fort Frances, Ont.
She also was the much-loved aunt of Arden Baechlor (Whitby, Ont.) and Judy Nault (Atikokan, Ont.), and many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law of Mary Gavin, Cal and Doug Gavin, and Dot Blanchette.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Pickering.
