EMILE JOSEPH CHABOT

In his 69th year, following a five-year battle with cancer, Emile Chabot returned to his Lord on Aug. 19, 2003.
He was born Sept. 23, 1933 on the family farm in Crozier, Ont.
Emile left this world surrounded by his family at his home at Louise Lake near Kenora, Ont. His life was filled with love for and from family and friends.
Emile was a patient teacher, and he possessed a strong work ethic; he promoted equality for women in the workplace; and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, and gardening.
He encouraged and inspired his children and grandchildren to use their abilities and reach for their dreams. His children and grandchildren have many special memories of playful times spent with Dad/Grampa.
Emile was well-known for his troubleshooting, organizational, and mechanical abilities; his constant positive attitude; and as a team member. He leaves us with the important gifts of honesty, the value of hard work, and the importance of family.
Jesus said, “Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Mt 19:14).
In his many years of employment at the paper mill in Fort Frances, he held numerous positions, lastly being assistant superintendent in the Finishing & Shipping department. He and Delores moved to Kenora in 1985, where he worked as Finishing & Shipping superintendent until his retirement.
Emile then became general manager of Coretec-Sonoco Limited in Kenora until his second retirement.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, the Notre Dame du Portage Roman Catholic Church in Kenora, and the Knights of Columbus.
Emile is survived by Delores, his best friend and wife of 48 years; his children, Sheri DeGagné (Michael), Nancy Hempstock (John), Teena Finley, Glenn Chabot, Lance Chabot, and Ron Finley; and his grandchildren, Gavin DeGagné, Kalon DeGagné, Tanya Kendall (Madero), Angela Hempstock, Matthew Hempstock, Eric Hempstock, Katherine Finley, and Justine Hoard.
He also is survived by his siblings, Cyril Chabot (Nonie), Paul Chabot (Roberta), Robert Chabot (Julia), Cecile Asselin, and Rose Chabot; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Emile was predeceased by his parents, Aurore Hélène Chabot Dunbar and Albert Chabot; and siblings, infant sister Roseline, Fernand, Marcel, Arthur, Theresa Wood, and Blanche Jackway Edgar.
Remember Emile with a smile today
Reflect on memories of the happy years
Recall to mind the way he spoke
And the things he said and did
His strength, his stance, the way he walked
Remember these instead
Until we meet again . . .
