It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Yvonne (Tucker) Taylor at the age of 90.
Elsie passed away peacefully at her home in Rainycrest in Fort Frances, Ont. surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Elsie was born to George and Jane Tucker on Feb. 9, 1926.
She married the love of her life, Albert Taylor, in 1947. After their marriage, they lived in the area of Finland, Ont. and later in Fort Frances. They had four daughters, Elaine (Jim) Madden, Brenda Taylor, Debbie (Randy) Kirk, and Susan (James) Boileau.
Elsie graduated from Fort Frances High School in 1944. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her family. Elsie was a full-time mother and the girls remember arriving home from school to the welcoming smells of homemade bread.
She also had a passion for gardening, where her roses often provided a backdrop for family gatherings and events.
Elsie’s grandchildren fondly remember gardening, picking raspberries, special breakfasts together, playing Rummy, and reading stories.
Grandma’s home was a place where love flowed, ice cream was a breakfast food, and nor’westers kept everyone inline.
Elsie will be greatly missed by her daughters, Elaine, Debbie, and Susan; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jason Madden, Ryan Kirk (Isabella and Savannah), Kimberly Kirk (Willem), Taylor Boileau, and Chantel Boileau; and sister, Loretta (Karl) Lipinski.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert; daughter, Brenda; and brothers, Gilbert, George, Horace, Ronald, and Raymond.
A memorial was held Monday, Nov. 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Kenora/Rainy River District, P.O. Box 837, Kenora, Ont., P9N 4B5.
