It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving mother,
Elsie Mary Ward
who left us on November 26th, 2015 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital with her children by her side.
Mom was born on February 7, 1934 in LaVallee Ontario. Her life began on a small farm north of LaVallee where her and her twin sister Jean helped their parents George and Elizabeth Macedon with the daily work involved there. It is here where she acquired her strong work ethic which carried her well on throughout her life.
She met and fell in love with her beloved Bob in her younger years and they dated for some time. They were married on November 2, 1953 and they raised three children. Throughout their life together their favourite pastime was dancing. People were always entertained watching dad glide mom around the dance fl oor. Mom had different jobs throughout her life but her main focus was always taking care of her family and home which she did with great pride. She became well known for her delicious cabbage rolls and wonderful pastry in her pies and tarts. She enjoyed sharing all these delicacies with family, neighbours and friends.
Mom loved waiting on you. She could never do enough for you when you were at her house.
Serving one of her wonderful dinners followed by a pie or special desert, she went out of her way to make sure you were full. She was truly the “hostess with the mostest”! Mom always came second behind anyone.
She was a very kind, compassionate and caring woman who had the biggest heart for anyone and everyone she felt needed help, be it the gift of her time or for that matter just a pie or some baking!
Mom was very proud of her three children and their children and spoke about them whenever given a chance.
When dad passed away in 2013 her heart was broken and her life never really felt the same afterwards. She missed him terribly especially when her own health became an issue. Mom’s inner strength and tenacity to survive got her through more than most could imagine right to the end. She was a great warrior!! In the end it was her children who were the proudest of all of her!!!
Left to mourn her are her two daughters Diane (Kirk) Camirand and Janice (George) Harnett, and her son Robert (Elizabeth) Ward, her granddaughters, Chantel (Brent) Day, Taylor (Chris) Harnett, Blaire Harnett, Beth Ward and her grandson, Greg Camirand. She was also very proud to have two great grandsons, Ryder and Kasen Day.
Also grieving her loss are her three siblings; Dottie Cote, twin sister, Jean Adams and Richard (Ruth) Macedon.
Among her family she also has numerous neices and nephews.
In respect to Mom’s wishes there was a private service at Riverview Cemetery on Tuesday December 1, 2015.
In lieu of fl owers, In Memorial donations may be made to Riverside Health Care Facilities Inc., 110 Victoria Avenue, Fort Frances, Ontario P9A 2B7.
