ELSIE MARIE TREMBLAY (nee BOUDREAU)

With her daughter (Debra), her son (David) and daughter-in-law (Jane) at her side, Elsie Marie Tremblay (nee Boudreau) passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the Malton Village Long Term Care home in Mississauga, Ontario.

She is predeceased (2011) by her husband, George Tremblay, of 59 years (married May 15, 1952); her parents Dora (Fournier) and Arthur (Boudreau); and her brothers James, Richard (Dick) and John.

In the latter part of 1969, Elsie moved to Hawkesbury Ontario when George secured a job as a Stationary Engineer at Duplate of Canada. A significant change for Elsie in leaving both her birth hometown, her life-long friends, and her beloved 20+ year job at the Clinic Pharmacy, Elsie quickly settled into Hawkesbury where she met and made an abundance of good friends, took up cross-country skiing, golfing and curling, and worked part time at Carkner’s Office Supply store. Elsie and George wintered in Lake Havasu, Arizona, when George retired in 1991. Elsie was engaged in all the offered activities at the resort they resided in including golfing, amateur night, casino trips, helped organize yearly Canada day events and of course, organized the many parties they hosted at their winter home.

In 2001, they left Hawkesbury and moved to Mississauga Ontario to be closer to their daughter, Debra, their son, David, and their grandkids. They resided with their daughter during the winter months with their summers being spent at a small lakeside ‘cottage’ at Spring Valley Resort in Mount Forest, Ontario, until George passed away and Elsie was diagnosed with the onset of dementia a couple years later. Elsie continued to live with her daughter until moving into Malton Long Term Care home in November 2021. Even with the dementia, she was always kind, happy and singing.

Elsie will be greatly missed by daughter Debra Tremblay (Mississauga) and son, David Tremblay (Aurora) (Jane Stevens); grandchildren Meghan (Anthony Tuccitto), Emily (Kris Grundy), and Scott (Megan Austriaco); great-grandchildren Jayden Olivia, Ella, Julianna, Holly, Warren, and step-great-granddaughter Breanna.

Elsie will be remembered for her easy smile, how she loved to laugh, sing, and of course dance! G-MA loved her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, and we loved her. Always enjoying time spent together celebrating life’s moments!

For Elsie, Life was a playground and one to enjoy. She lived every day to the fullest and truly believed one must always sing, dance and swing with all the joy in your heart and to fully embrace life, family and friends as you only had one life to live and to make every minute count. You will always be forever in our hearts, a beautiful spirit, a loving and caring mom and “G-MA.”

The family will hold a Celebration of Life Party (her wish) in the coming weeks to remember Elsie’s’ life and times.
