ELSIE MARGARET McCASEY

Peacefully in her sleep, with her family at her side, Elsie Margaret McCasey passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2000 at Pinecrest Home for the Aged in Kenora, Ont.
Born to Walfred and Arvida (Brodahl) Lundin in Bergland, Ont. on March 2, 1917, Elsie lived all of her life in the Rainy River and Kenora districts, living in Fort Frances since 1971 until her move to Pinecrest Home for the Aged in Kenora in January, 1999, where she resided until her death.
In May, 1935, Elsie was united in marriage to Marcel Lecot, who passed away in 1953. On Aug. 31, 1957, she married John Eugene McCasey, who died Nov. 30, 1989.
Elsie’s family was very dear to her and spending time with them was important. We are very proud of her artistic talents displayed when, at the age of 73, she seriously pursued her painting on oils and watercolours.
We are fortunate to have many paintings to treasure.
Left to cherish Elsie’s memory are her four children, Marie (Ray) Pearson of Rainy River, Ont., Albert (Donna Gail) Lecot and Lorraine (Allan) Boucher of Vermilion Bay, Ont., and Carmen (Philip) Williamson of Fort Frances, Ont.; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her sister, Esther Evans of Sioux Narrows, Ont.; two brothers, Walter Lundin of Winnipeg, Man., and Edward Lundin of Fort Frances; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elsie was predeceased by her sister, Anne Mills in January, 1983; and her grandson, Marcel Lecot in January, 1992.
As per Elsie’s wishes, cremation has taken place in Winnipeg, Man.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 21, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 1105 Scott St., Fort Frances, Ont., with Pastor Brian Keffer officiating.
Interment in Bergland Cemetery to take place at a later date.
Honourary pallbearers will be Elsie’s grandchildren, Eddie, Glen, Sandra, Ron, and Curt Pearson, Wayne Lecot, Kristine St. Laurent, Stephanie and Michelle Boucher, Monique McArthur, and Mia and Tamara Williamson.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to Pinecrest Home for the Aged 3H, 1220 Valley Dr., Kenora, Ont., P9N 2W7, Zion Lutheran Church, 1105 Scott St., Fort Frances, Ont., or to the Alzheimer’s Society.
