Elsie Makarenko (nee Dawkins), 84, passed away peacefully in the Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont. on Saturday, March 13, 1999 after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 13, 1915 in Fort Frances, Ont., she lived here until 1987 when she moved to Atikokan.
Elsie was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Mary-Jane; husband, George; sisters, Margaret (Maggie) Parker and Florence (Toby) McLeod; and brother, George.
She is survived by her son, Randy (Mary) of Atikokan; grandson, Adam of Thunder Bay; nieces, Marilyn Midgley and Shirley Olson, and their families; and other relatives.
In accordance with Elsie’s wishes, a service will not be held. Cremation has taken place, with interment in Fort Frances.
