Elsie Jane Lloyd, 96, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2006 in her sleep at her son’s home in Langdon, Alta.
She was born Jan. 3, 1910 in LaVallee, Ont. to the late William and Celia Pope. She married William Ashton Lloyd on July 10, 1940, who predeceased her in 1996.
Elsie taught school in Fort Frances for many years and became the Special Education consultant throughout the Rainy River District schools.
She also was a member of Knox United Church, the United Church Women, and an octogenarian member of the Retired Teachers of Ontario.
She is survived by her son, Bruce and wife, Elvie; and grandsons, Billy and Curtis Lloyd of Langdon, Alta., and Larry and Eric Sjoblom of Minnesota.
Also surviving are her sister and husband, Burdette and Gordie Redding of Port Townsend, Wash.; and sisters-in-law, Doris Pope and Mildred (Dave) Brockie of Fort Frances, Ont., and Joan Pope of British Columbia.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra, in May, 2001; two brothers, Alex and Jim Pope; and one sister, Isla Cornell.
Cremation has taken place in the Mountainview Funeral Home in Calgary, Alta.
Interment will be in Kamloops, B.C.
