Mrs. Elsie Davidson, 68, of Thunder Bay, Ont., passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on June 6, 2002 with her family by her side.
Elsie was born March 31, 1934 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late Alfred and Veronica Allan. She was married to Fred on April 11, 1955.
Elsie was employed at Pinewood Court, where she worked as a nurse’s aide for 25 years, retiring in 1993.
Upon retirement, she enjoyed spending time at her cottage at West Oliver Lake. Other enjoyments included spending time with her grandsons and going to Grand Portage.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Don) Karpowich; and son, Len (Desney) Davidson. Her grandsons brought her many smiles, laughter, and much joy. They are Ian and Graham Karpowich, and Jordan and Brett Davidson.
Elsie also is survived by three sisters, Ethel Gustafson, Annie Olson, and Lillian Anderson; special niece, Lorraine Eklund; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Fred, in April, 2000; her six sisters; Thelma Allan in infancy, Pearl Mattson, Florence Grey, Laura Boudreau, Gladys Dussome, and Evora Crowe; and two brothers, Robert and Fred Allan.
Funeral mass was held Monday, June 10, 2002 at 10 a.m. with family and friends gathering at St. Agnes R.C. Church, celebrated by Fr. Francis Pudicherry.
Interment followed at St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
Vigil prayers were offered Sun-day, June 9, 2002 at 6 p.m. in the Westfort Chapel, with visitation following until 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, in memorial donations made to the Alzhei-mer’s Society would be appreciated.
A donation has been made to the Alzheimer Day Centre St. Joseph’s Heritage in Elsie’s memory.
