ELSA ELLEN MILLER

Miller,Elsa

It is with great sadness that the family of Elsa Miller announces her sudden passing on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Elsa was born March 23, 1939 in Rainy River, Ont. to Rudolf and Lilly Pearson. She was raised on the family homestead in Tovell.
As she grew into a young woman, Elsa went to work in the tourist industry at Young’s Camp, The Ark, and Vauthey’s (Fred’s Place).
She was united in marriage to Alfred Miller on April 16, 1959.
Elsa was very devoted to her family and spent endless hours in her garden, in her kitchen, and crafting. She took great pride and joy in providing “feasts” in her home for all the family to gather around.
Elsa and Fred worked for years as a team in the family business, Miller Contracting, and somehow still found time to hunt and fish together from their home on Lake of the Woods.
After Fred’s passing in 2005, Elsa spent time with family and friends, as well as travelling. During these outings, she met Stan Cottam and they became special friends.
Their shared love of the outdoors, as well as dancing, gave her many happy times over the last four years.
Elsa leaves behind her sons, Bob (Nancy) and Jim (Cindy) of Morson, Ont., and daughter, Shirley (Randy) Potter of Thunder Bay, Ont.; grandchildren, Kyle and Chelsea Miller, Carly and Ryan Potter, and Trista (Josh) Flaten; and great-grandchildren, Ryder Miller, Hunter Rice, and Clayton Flaten.
Also left to mourn are her special friend, Stan Cottam; sisters, Ruth Halverson, Gladys Jolicouer, and Shirley (Allan) Brown; sisters-in-law, Louise (Aime) Jolicoeur, Eileen Pearson, and Marie Pearson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Fred; and siblings, Anna Olson, Alice Pentney, Gordon Pearson, and Roy Pearson.
A memorial service was held Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Bergland Hall, with Pastor Carolyn Kreger officiating.
Cremation has taken place, with interment in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River.
The pallbearers were her grandchildren, Kyle, Chelsea, Carly, Ryan, and Trista.
If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice c/o Green Funeral Home, P.O. Box 427, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3M8.
