ELOISE CATHERINE MCGEE

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, aunt and friend Eloise Catherine McGee. On June 19, 2022, God called her home to join him in Heaven where she and her parents are now rejoicing at being together again.

Eloise was born June 1, 1957, in Fort Frances, Ontario. She left Fort Frances in her late teens to reside in Ottawa, Ontario, until her passing. Eloise built a life for herself in Ottawa. She was employed by the Municipality of Ottawa until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her brother and his family who lived nearby. She often spoke of their relationship and the many special moments they had.

Eloise was beautiful. Her personality, which was direct and candid, was complemented with kindness, empathy and humour. Her laugh was infectious and her quick wit and funny comments left everyone laughing and saying, “remember when Eloise said……..” She loved to laugh even at her own expense; she truly had a gifted sense of humour. She laughed loud and loved hard. Eloise held the record for the most nicknames which were given to her with genuine affection: “Weezer,” “Weezie,” “Ellie,” “Queen of Sheeba,” “Tweezer,” “Gunther,” and Eloise’s favourite, “Cheech.”

She had a great love for her siblings and a different yet special bond with each one. She connected with her sister-in-law and brothers-in-law in a unique way and all were very fond of her. Eloise loved her nieces and nephews and they loved her just as much. She enjoyed every moment with them and has given them many memories that they will cherish. Eloise loved family trips and special events and joined in any chance she could which was often. Family was very important to her. She spent countless hours with many of us helping to design our homes as she had a great knack for decorating.

Eloise was predeceased by her parents Don and Eileen McGee; paternal grandparents Henry Terrance and Mary Jane McGee; and maternal grandparents Patrick and Loretta Armstrong; and numerous aunts and uncles.

She leaves behind, but only briefly as Heaven has no time, her one and only brother Ron McGee (Rachel) and six sisters, Colleen Campbell (Ken), Phyllis Kellar (Lynn), Cheryl McGee, Lois McGee, Rosanne Zimmerman (Bernie) and Tammy McGee; nieces and nephews Marianne McGee, Michael McGee (Chelsea), Dylan and Cole McGee, Tiffany Campbell Woodward (Curt), Emmett Woodward, Tamara Sinclair (Erik), a whole bunch of little Sinclairs (Shae, Avery, Chase, Cahlen, Landon, Brynlee, Everleigh, and Emerson), Chris Kellar (Tianna), Kingston, Cohen, Cruz Kellar, Vincent McGee (Dana), Kailey McGee, Danielle McGee (David), Sophia and Jack McGee Gourlay, Miranda Kellar-Dane (Keith) Eric Dane, Brandon McGee, Dustin McGee, Vanessa McGee, Joshua Zimmerman (Sarah), Nathan Zimmerman, Rebecca Zimmerman (Mackenzie), and Elijah Zimmerman.

Our Sister fought a brave battle with cancer. By His Grace, God lessened her fears over time and calmed her mind. Though her illness worsened, we knew that the Holy Spirit was holding her hand every step of the way until she reached home.

Eloise, you are greatly loved and now you are so very missed. You are the first sibling and aunt to leave us and we are crushed. Just like you, we will rely on our faith and God’s comfort.

Fly with the Angels. We love you always.

The family has chosen a private family visitation prayer and funeral service to begin our journey of healing. We want to thank our relatives and friends for your condolences and your kind words during this difficult time.

Our Pallbearers were selected from Eloise’s family: Lynn Kellar, Bernie Zimmerman, Nathan Zimmerman, Elijah Zimmerman, Erik Sinclair and Mackenzie Mahon.
