Elna Kristina Peterson

Elna Kristina Peterson, 89, of 1301 Elizabeth Ave. E., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Wednesday, May 7, 2003. She was born Feb. 15, 1914 in Bergland, Ont.
Elna had lived all her life in Rainy River District, where she had worked as a cook. She also was an amateur painter, enjoyed baking, and music. But her most important hobbies were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elna is survived by her two sons, Hilding (Jane) Peterson of Fort Frances, Ont., and Roy (Shelby) Peterson of Emo, Ont. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Kevin, Kerry, and Curtis; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Lottie Whitefield of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was united in marriage Dec.
21, 1933 to Elof Peterson, who predeceased her on May 20, 1978. She also was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Kristina Edberg; and two brothers, Henning and Arvid.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 10, 2003 at 2 p.m.
at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Capts. Eric and Sylvia Alcock of the Salvation Army officiating.
Friends visited prior to the funeral service at Green Funeral Home.
Interment took place Monday, May 12, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Pallbearers were Cliff Foster, Brian Whitefield, Terry Whitefield, Bradley Nixon, Stanley Peterson, and Gerald Wood.
Honourary pallbearers were Edla Orwick, Betty Sivonen, Shirley Brown, and Velma Blom.
