Elizabeth Macedon, 93, of 815 Victoria Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998 at La Verendrye General Hospital. She was born Dec. 26, 1904 in Cozmen, Bukovina (Austria) to the late Bill and Dora Corliuic.
Elizabeth immigrated to Canada in 1924 and settled in Gonar (Selkirk), Man. where she met and married George Macedon. In 1927, they moved to La Vallee, where they farmed for 45 years. Then in 1971, they moved to Fort Frances, where she lived until her death.
Her favourite pastime was to work in her flower and vegetable gardens.
Elizabeth was united in marriage on Feb. 3, 1926 to George Macedon, who predeceased her Nov. 10, 1978. She also was predeceased by two sisters, Uwanka and Mary; two brothers, Nick and Theder Corliuic; and a granddaughter, Kathy (Adams) Neiman.
She is survived by three daughters, Dottie and husband, Bob Cote, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Elsie and husband, Bob Ward, of Fort Frances, and Jean and husband, Gerald Adams, of International Falls, Mn.; and one son, Richard and wife, Ruth, of Fort Frances.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Diane (Kirk) Camirand, Janice (George) Harnett, Cheryl (Dave) Coenan, Robert (Cyndi) Ward, Stacy (Todd) Damon, Maureen (Joedy) Warren, Cory Cote, and David Macedon and fiancee, Lori Kessler; 13 great-grandchildren, Chantel, Greg, Andrew, Taylor, Blaire, Caitlin, Neil, Joshua, Jordyn, Matthew, Carter, Beth, and Michael; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in International Falls, Carlyle, Sask., Vancouver, B.C., and in the Ukraine.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 30, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. Rev. Patrick Playfair officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.
Friends visited prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Robert W. Ward, David Macedon, Ed Bogacki, George Harnett, Larry Buffington, and Peter West.
Honourary pallbearers were her eight grandchildren, Diane Camirand, Janice Harnett, Cheryl Coenan, Robert Ward, Stacy Damon, Maureen Warren, Cory Cote, and David Macedon.
