On Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014 at the Emo Health Centre, with her family by her side, Mom peacefully passed away to be with the Lord.
Lil was born Aug. 23, 1920 in Hamilton, Ont. to George and Annie Yuill.
She spent her entire life in Rainy River District.
On Feb. 14, 1946, she married Charlie Dimit and raised their five children, Bob (Gwen), Gaydonna (Marlin) Baker, Roger (Martha), Anne-Marie (Art) Reid, and Valdean (Marcel) DeGagné.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Shaun (Ricci) Dimit, Ted (Brittany) Dimit, Wendy (Ron) Turcott, Dean Martin, Renée Martin-Brown and husband, Ken, Terry (Lindsey) Martin, Dache (Cheryl) Dimit, Craig (Leah) Reid, Pamela (Rob) Cain, Kevin (Laura) Reid, Jody DeGagné and husband, Wade Thorpe, Darren (Sara) DeGagné, and Jamie DeGagné; as well has 25 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She also is survived by her sister, Alice Niskala; and sisters-in-law, Freda Yuill, Marlene Yuill, Alphild Yuill, and Judy Dimit.
Lil was predeceased by her parents, George and Annie Yuill; husband, Charlie Dimit; brothers, Alex, Tom, and John; and two grandchildren in infancy, Kirk Charles Reid and Bobbi Jo Dimit.
She was an active member of St. George’s Anglican Church, where she played the organ for 42 years, conducted the choir, and held various other positions.
Once the children were all in school, Lil went to work for the Emo Red Cross Hospital, where she was employed until her retirement.
After her retirement, Lil and Charlie enjoyed their time camping as well as winter vacationing in the south.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont., with Rev. Eileen Bragg officiating.
Interment will take place in Emo Cemetery at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers will be Shaun Dimit, Ted Dimit, Dean Martin, Terry Martin, Dache Dimit, Craig Reid, Kevin Reid, Darren DeGagné, and Jamie DeGagné.
