Elaine Rose Jourdain, 62, of Couchiching First Nation, Ont., passed away at her residence on Monday, Nov. 26, 2007.
Elaine was born on Feb. 23, 1945 in Fort Frances, Ont. to the late Gilbert and Florence Perrault. She had worked as a nursing assistant in International Falls, Mn., as a day care teacher, and also a community health representative.
She enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, and teaching her grandchildren to play poker. She was a very sociable person who enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with friends.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and the C.W.L.
Elaine is survived by her children, Naomi (Ed Carrigan), Leah (Norman) Lundquist, Ruth (Michael) Demuth, Denise (Stuart) Clendenning, Connie (Darren) Kress, Barb Lajoie and family, Terry Jourdain (Cindy McCormick), Laurie (Mervyn) Rose, Raylene (Rob) Hebert, Cheryl (Rocky) LaBelle, and Tony (Michelle) Marinaro.
She also is survived by her grandchildren, Devin and Chase Carrigan, Brenton and Tanner Lundquist, Allan and Mikey Demuth, Alyssa Clendenning, Alicia Kress, Sonny Lajoie, Danielle Lajoie, Jesse Jourdain, Paul Noble, Scott, Mervyn, Thomas and Tristan Rose, Bobbi-Lyn Boan, Hannah and Madeline Hebert, Terry, Doug, and Oscar LaBelle, and Frances, Michael, Tiffany, T.J., and Heidi Marinaro.
Also surviving are her siblings, Valentine (Eleanor) Perrault, Ramona (Irvin) Lewis, Gilbert (Colleen) Perrault, Barb (Dempsey) Calder, Diane Mainville, and Robert (Cathy) Perreault; very good friends, Marcy Mainville and Nick Mainville Jr.; great-niece, Callie-Jai Perrault; sister-in-law, Marilyn Perrault; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gilbert and Florence Perrault; brother, Vernon Perrault; sister, Patsy Grover and her husband, Lyle; and sister, Victoria Perrault.
A visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 from 7-8 p.m., with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m., at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Funeral mass will be held Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Couchiching First Nation.
Msgr. George Bourguignon will officiate, with interment in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Couchiching First Nation.
The pallbearers will be Gilbert Grover, Charles Perrault, Ed Natawance, Mitch Perreault, Brent Perreault, and Steven Perrault.
The honourary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Brenton and Tanner Lundquist, Allan and Mikey Demuth, and Devin and Chase Carrigan, and her two angels, Alyssa Clendenning and Alicia Kress.
