Elaine passed away peacefully on March 28, 2012 after a lengthy struggle which included many triumphs following a major stroke in September 2002.

Elaine was born on May 15, 1925 to Ella and Ronard Kleven in Sprague, MB, the second of five children. As a young child she lived in Hudson, ON and as a teenager moved to Fort Frances to complete her education.

While working at the Toronto Dominion Bank, she met the love of her life, Ron Anderson, who proposed to her on Valentines Day in 1946 and married her July 2, of that same year.

She and Ron enjoyed 64 years of work and play, gardening and cooking. She and Ron worked together at Betty’s building the business. In 1961 they purchased Riverbend Acres Farm and began building their dream home, where they raised their family and enjoyed great family get-togethers.

Elaine was accomplished in everything she tackled, whether it was finding the missing 10 cents while balancing the books, bringing in the newest styles and women’s fashions to Betty’s or helping people find the perfect outfit. She was an amazing cook, always finding new recipes. She loved decorating her home and making it a comforting welcome environment

Elaine was predeceased by her beloved husband Ron in September 2010, her parents Ella and Ronard Kleven, mother in law Betty Anderson, son-in-law Lyle Armstrong, brother Arnold Kleven and wife Helen, sister, Elvera Haver, and in-laws Peg and Harlan Ballard and Bob Cumming

She is survived by her children: Blair Anderson, Doug Anderson (Ann) and Cheryl Armstrong (Robin), Grandchildren Faith Moen (Peter) and Justin and Will Anderson, and great grandchildren Lyla and Aiden Moen. She will also be missed by her sister and best friend Del Cumming and brother Ronald Kleven (Ruth) as well as her nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Knox United Church, 340 Church Street, Fort Frances, ON at 11:00 a.m. Rev Barbara Miller will officiate. The pallbearers will be Peter and Faith Moen, Justin and Will Anderson, Jim and Don Cumming and Robin Grimard. The Honorary pallbearers will be special care givers, Ann Elizabeth Johnson and Sheila Durbin.
