Eileen Dorothy Coppen, 76, of 202 Armit Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999 at La Verendrye hospital in Fort Frances.
She was born March 2, 1922 in Reading Birkes, England to the late Harry and May Titcombe. She worked at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading during the Second World War.
On Oct. 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to Russell Leeson. She later joined him in Canada in July of 1947 but Russell predeceased her in Deer Lodge Hospital six months later.
Eileen then started work at the paper mill, and was there 29 years until her retirement in 1975.
On Oct. 26, 1973, Eileen was united in marriage to Sydney “Syd” Coppen, and lived at Coppen’s Resort at Bears Pass. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances.
Eileen is survived by her husband, Syd, of Fort Frances; three sisters in England; and by nieces and nephews in England. Two sisters, Mrs. Audrey Cooke and Mrs. Edith Morgan, travelled over for the service.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 7, 1999 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Fr. Ed Kosa, O.M.I. will officiate, with interment in Fort Frances Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Honourary pallbearers will be Eileen’s family and friends.
