EDWARD NICHOLAS HILL
It is with great sadness that the family of Ed Hill announces his passing on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Ed was born July 12, 1940 in Miscampbell, Ont. to Nicholas and Aino Hill. He lived in the Crozier area all of his life.
As a young man, he joined the Department of Highways in 1959, working with the survey crew and various other positions. He retired after 22 years. He also ran Ed’s Repair Shop for many years.
On Aug. 21, 1999, he was united in marriage to Sandra Schnekenburger in Fort Frances.
He enjoyed being outdoors, trapping, hunting, and fishing, and he also loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Ed was always ready to help his friends and neighbours.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; sisters, Irene Hill-Haver and Mamie Herdman; daughters, Candace (Marko) Litwinenko and Trista (Michael) Davis; stepsons, Wilfred (Charlene) and Michael (Danielle) Schnekenburger; mothers-in-law, Nellie Jerry and Myrtle Lewis; and sister-in-law, Linda Wright and husband, Robert Schweitzer.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Nicholas and Owen Davis, Seth Schnekenburger, Jared Cupp, Nicholas Doerksen, Cherie Boucher, Jason Boucher, and Zack, Crystal, and Rochelle Litwinenko; great-grandchildren, Carson Smith; nephews, Ryan, Neil (Danean), and Sean Herdman; nieces, Jennifer Herdman, Kristina (Brad) Totten, Heather Wright, Sherry Schweitzer, and David Schweitzer; great-nephew, Cameron Totten; great-niece, Scotia Herdman; aunts, Minnie Hahkala and Agnes Hill; as well as numerous cousins.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Aino Hill; brother-in-law, Norman Haver; and father-in-law, Harley Jerry.
A visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007 from 7-8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 26, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home, with Arlan Hahkala officiating.
Interment will take place in Burriss Cemetery in the Township of La Vallee.
The pallbearers will be Albert Dolph, Luke Schill, Forrest McQuaker, Dwayne Sletmoen, Marko Litwinenko, and Michael Davis.
The honourary pallbearers will be Vic McQueen, Neil Herdman, Ryan Herdman, Sean Herdman, and Leonard, Ronald, and Edward Haver.
