It is with great sadness that the family of Ed Lampi announces his passing on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Ed was born March 12, 1938 in Finland, Ont. to Henry and Lemmitty Lampi. He was raised in Finland and attended high school in Fort Frances.
He was united in marriage to his love of his life, Florence Cross, on Feb. 14, 1959.
Ed’s love of the outdoors played a part in all aspects of his life. His first job as a scaler’s helper progressed into self-employment. His initial gravel truck soon became a logging and contracting industry.
When he wasn’t operating a piece of equipment, he could be found working on one in his shop.
During his downtime, Ed and Florence enjoyed numerous summers at their cabin spending time with the family.
Ed leaves behind his wife, Florence; son, Gordon (Kathy) Lampi; daughter, Angela (Ken) Scholler; grandchildren, Crystal Paterson, John Paterson (Megan Soucy), Angela Lampi, Melissa Lampi, Billy Lampi, Anthony Scholler, and Brendyn Scholler; sister, Elvira Dustin; brother, Heikki (Laverne) Lampi; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Lemmitty Lampi; daughter, Rhonda Paterson; and son, Vernon Lampi.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Ed’s life will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Fort Frances.
