Edward James Ward, 92, of St Andrew’s Centre, Edmonton, Alta., passed away peacefully and in faith on Friday, April 7, 2006.
Edward was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen Lorreto Ward; parents, Edward and Edith Ward; and siblings, Margaret Oster, Thomas Ward, Sidney Ward, and Martha Reynolds.
Edward, although without children of his own, also will be grieved by numerous family members.
His fellow residents of St Andrew’s Center also have expressed their sorrow and condolences for the loss of Edward, and extend their thoughts and prayers to the family.
The family extends their greatest appreciation to the warm and caring staff of St. Andrew’s Centre, who helped make Edwards’s last year, a time of peace and comfort.
Many remember Edward affectionately as a man of faith in Jesus and a respected gentleman.
Ned, a veteran of the Second World War, was born in Pinewood, Ont. on Feb. 6, 1914. He lived in many locations throughout Canada as an inspector with Canadian National Railways.
He was a member of the Canadian Legion, an avid skater in his younger days, and built not one but two log cabins.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 21, 2006 at 4:30 p.m. at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Edmonton, Alta. His ashes will be transported back to Pinewood this summer, where they will be placed at the foot of his grandfather’s grave.
Time is cherished, day by day, and only God knows when . . . the breath we take will be our last and we won’t pass this way again.
All our days are numbered, but love will still live on in every heart that we have touched and in the lives we built upon.
