It is with great sadness that the family of Edward George Bogacki announces his passing on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Ed was born on March 18, 1937, in Fort Frances to William and Mary Bogacki. He joined the local paper mill as a young man working as a paper maker until retiring in 1995. He was united in marriage to Margaret Wood on July 15, 1961. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29, playing cards and meeting his friends. He loved to be “up the lake,” enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family there and visiting family in Edmonton, Winnipeg and other destinations. Ed and Marg enjoyed many trips to Hawaii, Mexico and Arizona. Ed was very social and enjoyed his daily coffee visits with his buddies and working out at the gym with friends. Many people in town have commented that they frequently saw Ed going for a walk or biking around town to get his daily exercise. Even as his health failed and he couldn’t get out as much he looked forward to driving around town and looked forward to seeing everyone again.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Margaret; sons Bruce and wife Kathy of Thunder Bay and Ed and wife Deanna of Sherwood Park, Alta.; grandchildren Jessy (Nicole) and Joel of Thunder Bay, Chad and Tessa (Sean) of Sherwood Park and great-grandson Benny of Thunder Bay; brother Jerry Bogacki of Winnipeg, Man.; sister-in-law Julie Bogacki of Winnipeg; nieces and nephews Bill, Bud, Joey, Gary (Heather), Matt, Chris, David, Glen (Rochelle), Kenny (Kim), Kayla, Greg and Shiela Shaw, Lisa, Jennifer and their families; brother-in-law Carl Wood (Bonnie); and cousins of the Kolynchuk family.
Ed had deep love and caring for his family even if his actions didn’t always show it.
Gigi had a special bond with each of his grandchildren, loved joking, teasing them and would always ask them “what’s new?” Great-grandson baby Benny brought a sparkle in his eyes, you could see the love shining through, especially the first time he got to hold him.
Edward was predeceased by his parents William and Mary; and Ken Orr; brother Hank Bogacki; sister-in-law Bonnie Bogacki; nieces Konnie and Shawna and nephew Rick.
Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, a public service and celebration will be held a later date this summer, pending Covid restrictions at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
