EDWARD DONALD HAVER

Edward Haver, 78, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014, with family by his side, at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was born May 30, 1935 in Eriksdale, Man. to Frederick and Marie Haver.
He lived in Eriksdale until 1947, moving to Fort Frances with his family.
As a young man, Ed worked on the family farm, and spent several years with Ontario Hydro and Cam Belluz Concrete before becoming an ambulance attendant at La Verendrye General Hospital in 1965.
He left the hospital in 1980 and worked at Canada Post until 1991. All the while he maintained his own personal farm in Burriss and Crozier.
Ed was united marriage to Alma Audette on Oct. 6, 1978 and they had almost 20 wonderful years together; he was heart-broken at losing her in 1996.
After Alma’s passing, he was introduced to Erna Paterson and they were married on June 22, 1998.
Erna’s family became Ed’s family. He loved her children as his own, and was especially fond of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed being outdoors, cross-country skiing, fishing, camping, and travelling, but he never strayed far for long; his farm and his garden always were calling to him.
Ed leaves behind his wife, Erna; children, Wendy (Bob) Rousseau and Karen (Paul) Nadeau, and Michelle Fehr (Stan) and Rob Paterson; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by his brothers, Arnold, Leonard, and Ronald Haver; sister, Nellie Jerry; sister-in-law, Irene Hill-Haver; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews that Ed was very close to.
He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Alma; brother, Norman; sister-in-law, Elviera Haver; and brother-in-law, Harley Jerry.
