EDWARD CHARLES CROSS

Edward (Ed) Cross passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at Rainycrest Home for the Aged in Fort Frances, Ont. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998.
Ed was born on Nov. 15, 1925 at Woodlea, Man. to the late Herbert and Winnifred Cross.
He was raised in Barwick as a child, then lived in Devlin, Fort Frances, and Rainy River for most of his life as a farmer and a welder. He also lived in Yellow Grass, Sask. as a farmer and welder for a few years.
He worked for Busch’s Auto in Fort Frances as a welder for 20 years.
Ed was predeceased by his wife, Ila; brothers, Art and Bill; grandson, Timothy DeBenedet; nephew, Les Cross; and a niece, Rhonda Patterson.
Ed is survived by wife, Jennette; one son, Launey (Karen) Cross of Edson, Alta.; daughter, Linda (Tim) Skinner of Longlac, Ont.; daughter, Darrellene (Bob) Hall of Crozier, Ont.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven step-children; and five step-grandchildren.
Also surviving are brothers, Vic (Mickey) Cross, and Bert (Delores) Cross, and sister Doris (Gus) Anderson, all of Fort Frances; sister, Florence (Ed) Lampi of Devlin; brother, Don of Atikokan; brother, Jack of Winnipeg; two sisters-in-law, Joan Cross of Crozier, and Corrinne Cross of Fort Frances; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998 at the Barwick Community Hall, with Rev. John McFarlane officiating.
The eulogy was given by niece, Maureen Gartshore.
Interment in Barwick Cemetery at a later date.
